Over 1,000 Surprise Proposals with Robbins Brothers Engagement Rings on Valentine’s Day

0298597_r_white-gold-settingValentine’s Day is over and our Random Acts of Romance street team is now taking a short break and catching up with the normal duties at the home office. This has been undoubtedly our most exciting February ever, not only with the very public surprise proposals on KTLA Morning News and Dr. Phil, but also the personal yet absolutely perfect proposals that took place all over the country on Saturday. Our engagement specialists in the stores and the ring center were especially busy the past few weeks checking wish lists, showing and setting hand-selected diamonds into engagement ring settings, and sizing rings for customers from California to New Jersey, Illinois to Texas. They even assisted with long-distance requests from our beloved soliders serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Unofficially, it looks likes the 1 carat princess cut was the preferred center diamond of choice for couples getting engaged on Valentine’s 2009, and the white gold setting (SKU 0298597 pictured) is an example of a popular engagement ring style for Robbins Brothers clients.

If your Valentine’s Day included a surprise marriage proposal, and you’d like to post it here on the Robbins Brothers site, email the details to me at dferraro@robbinsbros.com, and be sure to include a photo!

Don’t forget: Random Acts of Romance are not to be limited to just February 14th, they should be done 365 days a year! Surprise your sweetie this week and do something totally unexpected and romantic, the week AFTER Valentine’s Day!

Congratulations to Mike & Maegan – Just Engaged on Dr. Phil’s Valentine Show!

8What a romantic and fun week for all of us at Robbins  Brothers! And it isn’t even Valentine’s Day…yet! It all started with KTLA and Gayle Anderson on Monday: Mark proposed to his girlfriend, Katie, with a stunning 3-stone princess diamond engagement ring. And today, Dr. Phil was part of another Random Act of Romance: Mike’s plot to propose to his girlfriend of two years, Maegan.

Mike’s only way to get Maegan to fly to L.A. and appear on Dr. Phil’s show was to convince her that he was going to get advice that would help his forgetful behavior. As soon as they arrived in L.A., the producers interviewed Maegan about Mike’s “problem” at the Dr. Phil offices, and secretly shuttled Mike to Robbins Brothers to select the perfect engagement ring setting and a one carat diamond. Engagement expert Carmen Matsushita guided Mike through the huge selection of engagement ring styles and loose diamonds, and Mike selected a gorgeous ring that was perfect for Maegan.

Less than 24 hours later, Mike and Maegan were in studio with Dr. Phil and a live audience. Maegan and Dr. Phil went through a list of everything her boyfriend needed to work on. Then, after Dr. Phil mentioned that Mike was really on the show for a different reason, he dropped to a bended knee and proposed! The audience went “ahhhh” several times, and Dr. Phil had the cameraman get a close up of the one carat princess cut diamond engagement ring.

Immediately after the show, Mike & Maegan drove to Robbins Brothers store in Glendale and were welcomed with a engagement celebration that included the ringing of bells, a walkway strewn with rose petals, champagne and lunch.

Congratulations Mike and Maegan, thank you Dr. Phil and Ingrid (producer at the Dr. Phil show) and Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!   Di

KTLA-TV Helps with the Ultimate Random Act

dsc034912Last night I slept well. I went to bed thinking, “wow, another couple whose dream we’ve made a reality.” The Robbins Brothers Street Team had an eventful morning yesterday. We’ve helped countless couples get engaged, and many of the engagements have been televised, but something about yesterday’s surprise proposal was different. It felt as if we turned it up a notch in terms of the romance.

Robbins Brothers, KTLA-TV’s Gayle Anderson and Panera Bread carried out the ultimate random act of romance for the adorable couple Mark & Katie. Live on the KTLA Morning Show, Mark proposed to Katie at Panera Bread in Pasadena. His proposal–the exact words he spoke to her–made me realize that chivalry is not dead. Usually guys are so nervous that they can barely get out the words, “Will You Marry Me?” But not Mark; he was prepared, took his time and spoke from the heart. Watching those two together inspired all of us and a lovely couple like that deserves the best. We felt honored that we could help Mark present Katie with a beautiful ring, roses, chocolate, balloons, champagne, etc…all of the wonderful elements that make a proposal unforgettable.

Lastly, we couldn’t have made the proposal as special as it was without the help of Miss Gayle Anderson. I’m extremely grateful for my relationship with KTLA-TV’s dynamic and outgoing features reporter. Gayle has always been a joy to work with and keeps me on my toes, that’s for sure! Even when we worked together at KTLA over a decade ago she was a perfectionist, a true talent in the broadcast industry. I’m thrilled we’ve been able to continue the tradition of Valentine’s Day engagements on KTLA. Mark and Katie are likely the 5th couple we’ve engaged on the show and it gets sweeter every year.  TL

Robbins Brothers Street Team Delivers Over 1,500 Flowers

Shulamite Lo at Panera in Rancho CucamongaFebruary 8, 2009: What a week! Our Random Acts of Romance Street Team delivered over 1,500 gerbera daisies and roses, and I put about 400 miles on my 2001 Acura MDX in the process. The past two days we partnered with Panera Bread and greeted diners with a free flower at the Pasadena, Fullerton, Torrance and Rancho Cucamonga Panera cafes. (A big thank you to Panera managers Sean in Pasadena, Mike in Torrance and Ellias in Rancho Cucamonga, and to Rhema, for everything! And thank you to CAS, Brandy, Tra and Shulie - Shulie’s in the pic at right - for working these past two weekends.)

Despite the stormy and cool weather (we are spoiled in So Cal and admittedly break out the parkas and boots when it dips below 60 degrees) the Panera cafes were filled with couples and families and we enjoyed putting smiles on folks’ faces with a fresh flower and a chance to win a $1000 Robbins Brothers shopping spree. CarolAnne encountered a sweetheart of a guy who, upon receiving the flower, gave his girlfriend a kiss and said “see, that kiss was a random act of romance!” Absolutely! As I always say (well, actually J Lo sang the famous song) love don’t cost a thing.

Tomorrow, tune in to KTLA channel 5 between 6 and 9:30 am for the ultimate random act of romance with Gayle Anderson at a secret location. I have two dozen red heart-shaped balloons and another 48 roses in my car waiting for their 15 minutes of fame. Di

PS: Don’t forget: just six more days until Valentine’s!
